My frist painting:    My parents found a post-fire Victorian  house to fix up for our family of six. I was three years old. They decided to paint a mural of our  family along a bathroom wall. My mother started me on my self-portrait. She said, “Paint a  circle for your head”. I did. This was easy! Then she said, “Now, put in your eyes.” I started  adding eyes. The phone rang and she went downstairs to answer it. I liked adding eyes, so I  kept doing it, until the circle was filled with eyes. There was an accuracy to this distortion -  nature, the people and things around me, fascinate me endlessly. Over the years I found the  thrill of observation combined with the feeling I have in that moment is what I seek in my  representational art. With practice, I’ve learned to draw an accurate number of eyes. My  husband, Joseph Brady, and I enjoy an active portrait business called, “Beyond Caricature”

Hello hello! My name is Sierra, I am now based in Washington State! Originally I was living in South Dakota but relocated back home to Washington State with my Husband who is in the Air Force. I work in a vet clinic as I'm going to school for animal sciences. This is my other passion, helping animals the best I can. Though I have always been very creative, whether that is painting, drawing, making candles, or creating all sorts of things with my Cricut. When we say our journey started a long time ago, it started roughly when I was 8 years old. Courtney’s love of drawing began as soon as she could pick up a crayon. She used drawing as an outlet, coloring pages and creating small doodles. It was not until high school that she realized she had a natural talent, creating her first black and white portrait in answer to a simple homework assignment for art class. She knew then that she wanted something to do with art, whatever that may be. She obtained her Associate in Graphic Design and soon after, a Bachelor’s in Business Marketing Management. A combination of two passions to further her ambition of becoming a business

I’m Kris, an expert chocolatier, who has worked with some of the best confectioners in the world. Some of my earliest memories revolve around being in the kitchen, surrounded by delicious foods and desserts. From a young age I had an interest in science and the how’s and why’s of everything, and when I realized that there is a science to food, and especially chocolate, I knew that had to be my career. For the next few years, all I thought about was going to culinary school and learning as much as I could about chocolate. After I graduated I was able to get a job with one of the nation's largest artisan chocolate companies, which was a great chance to hone my skills and learn even more about the science of chocolate! Jayme Branagh, EdD, NBCT, LMHC

For over 20 years, Jayme has dedicated her life to building relationships with children and learning better ways to serve their needs. Children with anxiety, trauma, ASD, ADHD, and social skill deficits are often categorized or mislabeled. As an elementary school counselor, building trust and understanding has been the foundation of her philosophy for facilitating the growth and evolution of children into healthy adults.

In addition to school counseling, Jayme was director of an extended school year program for a satellite campus of Seattle Children’s Hospital. This program served students with Autism and ASD. She also worked with individual children on at-home programs with the goal of increasing social and life skill behaviors. Jayme maintains a passion for ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) children and parents of ASD children.

Jayme has an incredible thirst for improving her professional learning and enhancing her practice. Finding and creating new ways to model useful and creative strategies to support children is her inspiration. She graduated from Seattle University with her master’s degree in school counseling. She continued her pursuit of professional learning by earning her national board credentials in school counseling. She currently holds her Mental Health License (LMHC) and runs a private practice. In 2021 she earned her doctorate in community care and counseling.

Using experiences and expertise supporting numerous children and families, Jayme recently began her journey as a children’s book author. Jayme’s books are based on effective educational and therapeutic approaches to address a child’s social and emotional needs.

Point of View (POV) is a Seattle-based women’s workwear startup founded by Aditi Sinha and Sakina Adeeb. POV is born out of a personally felt need of career women for workwear that is both statement-making, as well as sensible. As women, we put our professional attire through a lot: hustling to and from our desks, balancing various gadgets and keeping our outfit as crisp for the 9 a.m. board meeting to that 6 p.m. happy hour. Based on our research, about 5% of women’s clothing can accommodate a smartphone, compared with 85% of men’s clothing. POV is aiming to end this “pockets inequality” with stylish designs and pockets big enough to hold a smartphone. Bio-

Since 2009, Brazilian Top Team Happy Valley has been a leader in Oregon's martial arts community. Our academy offers both family-friendly classes and professional competition training, catering to students of all ages and fitness levels, and helping them achieve their goals.

Professor Briana King, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and co-owner of Brazilian Top Team Happy Valley, has been instrumental in supporting female Jiu Jitsu practitioners in the region. She hosts a women-only mat session once a month at one of our three BTT locations and is a strong advocate for Girls in Gi’s, an organization dedicated to building and strengthening the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community for women and girls. Briana initiated a weekly ladies' night at our Happy Valley location, providing a dedicated space for women from any of our gyms to train together. A graduate of PSU with a focus on child development, Briana has greatly influenced our exceptional kids’ programs at Brazilian Top Team Happy Valley. Professor Maria Ruffatto, also a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, is a role model and leader for our younger students.
